I guess I should introduce myself. I’m just a girl striving to live my life for Jesus.
I’m a Jesus lover, shalom seeker, student, advocate, writer, speaker, basketball fan, believer in hope, ice cream eater, Canadian, sister, daughter, friend.
And I’m trying to talk as little as possible about myself in this thing.
Because it’s really not about me.
I consider myself freed by Jesus’ amazing grace, and called to live like that.
I'm convinced that this life is all about figuring out how to live freed by grace. It's about living as a recipient of His crazy love. It's about establishing, living, and spreading Christ's Kingdom - on earth as it is in heaven.
It's about being moved with compassion as Jesus was for the world's most vulnerable people. It's about running towards the most broken places on earth armed with radical love, subversive peace, reckless faith, and unwavering hope - and facing your own brokenness in the process. It's about the vulnerability of love and the holiness of imperfection-made-whole in Jesus.
I’m still trying to figure it out. It gets messy sometimes.
You too?
Perfect. Let’s do it together.
This blog is a place to share thoughts, unpack the messy stuff, and get inspired to run towards brokenness no matter how vulnerable it feels. It's a place to laugh, cry, and probably occasionally rant. It's a place to reflect, connect and inspire.
Ultimately, I hope it is a place to draw closer to Jesus.
A few facts about me:
- I'm an International Development student at the University of Toronto. I am so thankful for this program and the opportunity to learn with and from some of the brightest people at such an outstanding institution.
- I'm 5'2" and totally embrace it. Bring on the short jokes. (Despite my height, I am a HUGE basketball fan.)
- I love travel, even and including (and especially?) getting there. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who loves airports and airplanes more than me.
- I am incredibly passionate about the ministry of Compassion Canada. Here's a little bit of my and my family's "Compassion story". After years of loving this organization a ton, I started working part-time for Compassion Canada's advocacy department in 2016 - something that came about after I completed a summer FLOW internship placement there.
- I started a social enterprise in high school called Freedom Creations, out of a desire to do something about modern day slavery.
- I write a regular column in LoveIsMoving Magazine about youth involved with Compassion. It is a ton of fun connecting with other young people who are passionate about Compassion!
But enough about me. I would love to connect with you. Drop me a line, and I hope to see you around the blog!
peace,
Alyssa

ReplyDeleteHi God's Girl! I love what you said in your profile: "It's a little tough sometimes (living like Jesus), but I wouldn't trade it for anything." People don't seem to notice that even sinning is a challenge!
